Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe officially mentioned a deferment of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics during a conversation with the leader of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach. He says a full games will happen in the nation before the end of one year from now. Abe said a delay is unavoidable if the 2020 Games can’t be held in a total way during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I proposed to defer for about a year and (IOC) president Thomas Bach reacted with 100% understanding,” Abe said. Abe held phone chats with Bach after the IOC said it would settle on a choice on the Tokyo Games throughout the following month.
